Fadhil Abubaker

Hi there! I’m a CS MMath student at the University of Waterloo and a member of the Data Systems Group. My primary research interests are in database system internals; I am particularly interested in adapting existing database architectures to modern hardware.

Previously, I used to be a Software Engineer at QCRI, working on large-scale data infrastructure problems. I was primarily involved in scaling Rayyan, an online research platform developed at QCRI and used by researchers around the world. Rayyan was eventually commercialized into an independent startup and now has 350,000+ users.

I graduated from CMU-Qatar in 2018 with a B.Sc. in Computer Science and a minor in Math.
There, I was involved in computational biology research, working with Ihab Younis to build tools and pipelines for RNA-Seq analysis.
